Cosun reports stable net profit

All Royal Cosun's business groups reported higher results for 2011. Virtually all the improvement was passed on to the members of the cooperative in the form of a higher beet price. Cosun will pay € 55.69 per tonne of sugar beet delivered during the 2011/12 campaign (2010/11: € 43.00). Cosun's net profit is expected to come to € 115 million (2010: € 109 million), including non-recurring income from the sale of business units.

Chairman calls for stronger European sugar industry

15 November 2011 - A radical shake-up of the sugar industry planned by the European Commission would lead to developments on the world market having a direct impact on the European market. The Chairman of Cosun's Board, Jos van Campen, has warned about the dangers of abolishing import restrictions. They include widely fluctuating prices and even shortages in the processing industry. Crown Prince opens biomass fermenter in Dinteloord

8 November 2011 - His Royal Highness the Prince of Orange opened the biomass fermenter by dropping a load of biomass from a digger into it. The brand new plant can convert 100,000 tonnes of residual biomass, such as beet tails and leaves that cannot be used otherwise, into 10 million m3 of green gas per annum. Read more.
