Basic properties and environmental profile

CMI has such a unique combination of antiscaling, sequestration and dispersing properties and that it can be considered a multifunctional molecule.

CMI is a threshold scale inhibitor for CaCO3, CaSO4, BaSO4 and SrSO4 scaling. It can be applied for its dispersing functionality. CMI has a high Ca tolerance, is highly soluble in water and has a low viscosity.
The CMI technology is relatively new and additional properties are constantly being discovered. Recent research results indicate that CMI has corrosion inhibition properties for metals and glass. Further research is being conducted to investigate its technological and commercial potential.
The environmental profile of CMI is excellent because it is:
  • made from renewable resources
  • phosphorous free
  • extremely low in aquatic toxicity
  • inherently biodegradable with good evidence of slow but full mineralisation in the environment
Toxicity and biodegradability data are in accordance with the relevant OECD tests. More and detailed information is available on request.
