Increased awareness of sustainability in society and government is leading to changes in the market. There is a growing demand for environmentally friendly 'green' products.
Government policy and legislation are placing more restrictions on the use and discharge of petrochemical and phosphorous products, such as antiscalants, into vulnerable environments. The competitive landscape will also change for economic reasons. Scarcity and supply uncertainty will lead to higher and heavily fluctuating prices for crude oil and phosphate rock and, as a result, for the products made from these raw materials. CMI is less dependent on oil and phosphate prices than traditional chemical products and we expect price changes to be more moderate and more predictable.
The competitive position of 'green' products such as CMI will improve in the future not only because of the better environmental profile, which matches the current market trends, but also because of cost-performance which is especially interesting to our customers.
