Albert Markusse, CEO Cosun, announces he will leave the company on 1 June 2021

Today, Albert Markusse has announced that he will leave his current position of CEO at Cosun on 1 June 2021.

Albert Markusse has been working for Cosun since 2007. Initially as CEO of the former Suiker Unie, and since 2017 in his current role as CEO of Cosun.

Since 2007 Markusse has prepared Cosun’s sugar business for the discontinuation of the market regulation by successfully integrating CSM Suiker and the subsequent substantial investments at the manufacturing sites in the Netherlands and Germany. Due to market related changes, Cosun landed in different competitive circumstances as of October 2017. During this period, he has been instrumental in developing the new vision for Cosun and the significant steps to secure the future growth of the company – by investing in Aviko (Poperinge, China and Rixona) and in Duynie Group (pet food factory in Cuijk). Furthermore, the opening of the Cosun innovation center has laid the foundation of our future growth through innovation.

Albert Markusse is looking to improve his work-life balance which will enable him to spend more time on other activities among which his family and giving back to society.

Until end of May 2021 Markusse will focus on the execution of the strategic direction. The search for a successor has been initiated.
