Since 2010 Thijs Bosch has held various positions in Europe at the dairy company Fonterra and was responsible for starting up and further developing new activities in the field of dairy and milk proteins. His last position at Fonterra was managing director Europe.
His extensive experience in the food ingredients and protein markets – in terms of strategy development, commerce and operational management – fits in seamlessly with Cosun’s strategic ambition to grow in the plant protein market.
Cosun Protein aims to develop a new generation of plant proteins with top quality in terms of taste, purity, solubility in emulsions and other functionalities. The recent introduction of protein isolate from fava or field beans, for example, has shown that it’s an optimal functional ingredient for dairy substitutes, vegan ice cream and dressings.
In February, Cosun announced its new strategy Unlock 25, which focuses on unlocking the full potential of plants into valuable plant solutions (‘The Plant Positive Way’). Profitable growth in plant proteins, dietary fibers and biobased raw materials should contribute to the transition in the Cosun portfolio to climate-friendly (‘green’) and health-promoting alternatives.
